PANAJI: Despite being a late entrant in the Indian Super League with Chennaiyin FC, co-owner Abhishek Bachchan has been the most visible face. Showing up at all official functions and even heading to Rome to convince former World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho, to join his team. Abhishek tells TOI how and why his life has been all about football prior to Chennaiyin's opener against FC Goa at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Wednesday.
Despite Chennaiyin FC's late start, are you happy with the way the team has shaped up?
Yes, I am happy that we were able to put together a very competitive squad, filling all the positions and players required by Marco (Materazzi). You have huge admiration for Chelsea FC. Are you exploring the possibility of foreign collaboration, either with Chelsea or any other club?
We would love to (have foreign collaborations). I am not in favour of a brand
Marco Materazzi said Chennaiyin has the best team. You watched the opening game in Kolkata and must have got a sense about the other teams too. What's your own assessment about Chennaiyin FC?
I believe we have a well-rounded competitive squad. It is still too early in the
tournament to judge the other teams. I feel we will get a better picture of the team
standings in the third week of the tournament. more >>
